New standard for safety information and warnings
The mountain labored and ... well, brought forth a bit more than a mouse. As already reported, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) published a reviewed version of ANSI Z535.6 (Product Safety Information in Product Manuals, Instructions, and Other Collateral Materials) in September 2011. As announced in the previous version of the standard, using "CAUTION" as the warning word for property damage is no longer permissible. The word "NOTICE" is now mandatory. With this distinction, property damage should be better differentiated from – minor – personal injury, for which the warning word "CAUTION" is required.
