A brand with tradition in the service sector for technical communication

The brand name TANNER originated as the surname of the company founders Edda and Helmut Tanner. Until 2006 they ran the company, until 2011 they remained the majority owners and still today remain closely associated with the company. The family continues to provide the chairman of the supervisory board of the limited company in the person of Helmut Tanner.

In 2011 the long-standing directors Stefan Kügel and Georg-Friedrich Blocher bought out in full and equal proportions the company shareholdings held by the Tanner family. This was the successful culmination of a long-term plan to ensure succession within the company and lay the foundation for sustaining the company identity and brand independence built up over the preceding 27 years.

Sustainable development is the focus of our corporate action. In this spirit, we perceive social responsibility as a contribution to economic prosperity, environmental quality and social capital.

The basis of our economic responsibility is formed by sustainable customer relationships with reorder rates of 90 percent and a healthy growth of an average of 30 percent since 2000. We are on the right track here in order to create and safeguard jobs long-term.

The perception of our ecological responsibility is represented by the “TANNER Think-Tank”, our company’s headquarters in Lindau am Bodensee. There, as at all of our company’s locations, we produce technical product information following industrial procedures. Production like in a factory – but without the emissions.

The core of our social responsibility is comprised of two pillars: Family-friendly policies and the promotion of technical-scientific education.

A family-friendly company

In light of an increasing shortage in skilled workers, creating a suitable general framework to combine family and career feasibly is a corporate and social responsibility in equal measure.

With offers such as flexible working time models, home office jobs, re-entry programs following parental leave or the TANNER Children’s House, we have been successfully meeting this challenge for many years. Today 50 percent of our staff is female – in a primarily technical career.

From the “Little Scientists’ House” to the university competition

Consistently thought out, the struggle against a shortage in skilled workers can only be won with changes to the education sector. Therefore we emphasize supporting and initiating projects which encourage the enjoyment of and interest for technology and science – for elementary school aged children as well as for prospective college graduates.

In doing so, the volunteer principle of our employees is in the forefront. They fill the thematic and financial scopes of the company’s projects with enthusiastic proactivity and personal commitment.

The projects “Little Scientists’ House” and the “TANNER University Competition” are representative for this.
