Today saw the start of project work for the 10th TANNER college and university competition for Technical Documentation. Appropriately for the tenth anniversary, a record number of teams took part in the competition: This year a total of seventeen teams of young people from eight different colleges took the opportunity to gain practical experience alongside their studies. By 15th April the total of 54 students applied themselves to the task set by this year’s industrial partner “Phoenix Contact GmbH & Co. KG”.
This company was nominated in 2014 as one of the 100 most innovative medium-sized companies in Germany. It is a world-wide market leader for components, systems and solutions in the field of electrical engineering, electronics and automation. As the task for the 10th TANNER college and university competition, the company set the students the challenge of making the forward-looking Industry 4.0 concept understandable and tangible based on a real project.
The task was to explain how the “Axioline” assembly system developed by “Phoenix Contact GmbH & Co. KG” has implemented the concepts of Industry 4.0. Whether in print or online, by podcast, e-learning or brochure – it was up to the students themselves to choose the media format for accomplishing this task. In May the teams presented their results to an independent jury in Lindau. That same evening, the winner was announced during a ceremonial presentation.
